What is Sensitive Skin?

Sensitive skin is generally characterized as prone to redness, irritated easily, reactive and has a low tolerance to certain product ingredients like fragrance.

Many factors can contribute to sensitive skin, such as environmental aggressions, topical products, diet and food, internal imbalances or irritations and genetics to name a few. Some may experience sensitive skin occasionally, while others may experience sensitivities on a daily basis.

Sensitive skin usually is a symptom of other health or skin issues, for example, someone who may experience dry skin, which can be classified as tight, smaller pore size, flaky, and red usually would also experience sensitive skin due to the lack of moisture in the epidermis, this is because the lipid barrier ( the protective barrier) has been compromised. If the dryness is addressed, typically the sensitivity will also be corrected as well.

Treatment Options for Sensitive Skin

In order to effectively treat sensitive skin it’s important to determine the underlying issue. Treatments like an oxygen infusion facial which is extremely hydrating, soothing and helps reduce redness is paired with naturopathic solutions such as supplements and vitamins. IV therapy and cosmetic acupuncture can help to address any internal issues that may be causing skin sensitivity among other treatments. Some of our most effective treatments for sensitive skin include oxygen infusion facial, signature facial, Hydra Dermabrasion and cosmetic acupuncture to name a few.
