Take a Holistic Approach to Health With Our Naturopathic Services

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathy is a system of medicine which uses all natural resources and modalities to manage different ailments and diseases through a holistic approach. Naturopathic medicine is an evidence-based medicine. This means that naturopathic doctors (NDs) use effective treatments that have been researched in several trials with convincing outcomes. In naturopathy, NDs use the following practices and techniques to get the best results for their patients:

  • Medicinal herbs (botanical medicine)
  • Traditional Chinese medicine
  • Acupuncture
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Massage and cupping
  • Meditation
  • Physical therapies
  • Nutrition and lifestyle modification

Naturopathic medicine does not go against conventional medicine, but instead completes it. Based on its philosophy, the focus is not on one particular symptom or complaint. Instead, NDs believe that the whole body works as a system, and all the signs and symptoms are related to one another. Therefore, NDs devote 60 to 90 minutes for the initial consultation to cover all related concerns and issues. In such a holistic approach, NDs try to understand and find out what may be the root of a cause of a disease, and then try to target that cause.

Dr. Sohail Malihi, ND

Dr. Sohail Malihi is our in-clinic naturopathic doctor. He is also a highly educated physician.

After obtaining his medical degree in Iran, Dr. Malihi spent over 20 years as a family physician in various other countries in the Middle East, including Dubai.

He then moved to Canada and was determined with a passion to study naturopathic medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Canada’s leading naturopathic education provider. He successfully graduated from the program and went on to complete year of internship at Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) and Queen West Community Health Centre.

After graduating and receiving his second doctorate degree, he successfully passed the North American Board Exams (NPLEX 1 and 2). He is currently registered in Ontario as a board-certified naturopathic doctor. Dr. Malihi believes that studying both conventional medicine and naturopathic medicine has given him a deeper insight into medicine, and now he is able to help his patients by using all available treatments and modalities from both sides.

Dr. Malihi has a special interest in skin conditions and cosmetic procedures. He obtained a post-graduate diploma in clinical dermatology from Queen Mary University of London (UK) and diploma of aesthetic medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM). The main focus of his practice are dermatology, cosmetics, anti-aging, and rejuvenation, and he believes that the real and natural beauty comes from the inside out. Thus, in addition to applying various facial treatments, he focuses on lifestyle modification and diet changes to achieve a healthy mind, body and skin.

His practice is not limited to the skin or cosmetics, and based on his experience and knowledge as a family physician, he confidently manages various conditions such as hypertension, high cholesterol level, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, food allergies, and other chronic diseases.

Acupuncture, botanical medicine (using medicinal herbs), traditional Chinese medicine, physical therapy, and cupping are some of the other treatments he might consider for his patients’ wellness.

Dr. Malihi is a dedicated and passionate naturopathic doctor who has always prioritized his patients’ needs and helps them with an individualized treatment plan. To book an appointment with Dr. Malihi, please visit our bookings page or give us a call at our Brookfield Place location.
